Technician

Nexicom is a leading Communications service provider in Central Ontario.  We provide the latest technology...with a neighbourly touch.  We're big enough to provide top-quality service, and small enough to give the one-on-one attention that big city providers can't match.  We are currently seeking a:   Technician (Field)
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the installation, repair, locating and maintenance of communication services and products while engaging in customer contact and promotion of Nexicom services.  The candidate will also be required to read plans, perform cable splicing of both copper and fibre and identify colour coded wires.  This position requires working in adverse weather conditions, climbing on poles/ ladders, kneeling/bending, and working in confined spaces. The job entails extensive driving throughout assigned geographic areas and reports directly to the Manager of Plant Operations.

Qualifications:

• College diploma specializing in Telecommunications or equivalent

• Ability to move and handle heavy loads (ladders, cable reels, test sets)
• Valid driver’s license (class G) with a clean driving record-DZ/ AZ would be an asset
• Knowledge in safe operations of equipment.
• Commitment to delivery of superior customer service and the ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

***preference will be given to candidates with over 3 years related Field Technician experience***

Internet Helpdesk Representative

Nexicom is currently seeking Internet Help Desk Representatives - 12 Month Part Time Contract position of 16-32 hours per week


The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
•Assisting all customers with account inquiries at the counter, over the phone or via e-mail,
•Taking applications for new services and keep customer history current
•Inputting new customer billing and payment information into billing systems for basic services as required
•Taking payments and entering them in the billing system, preparing the bank deposits, and ensuring daily reports balance to the deposit
•Providing back up to the Support Team with regards to data entry of telephone programming codes, preparing trouble tickets and locate requests

The position requires a well-spoken, articulate, pleasant-mannered and flexible, individual with effective listening and analytical skills who delivers excellence in customer service with a professional approach to customers and staff.

The successful candidate will be required to be able to work amongst our 4 locations, Millbrook, Lindsay, Peterborough and Lakefield.


Qualifications:

• Minimum entry level post secondary education with some specialization in computers and the internet. (wireless, DSL & Cable)
• 1 to 2 years of previous experience in an office environment using business tools
•  Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
•  A positive, friendly attitude with the willingness and ability to assist our customers and promote our services
•  Ability to learn and share information with others and able to work in a team environment a must
•  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while effectively managing multiple tasks
•  Experience in a structured team environment. Help Desk experience is an asset
•  Data entry, PC repair and maintenance.
          • Experience setting up WIFI and Email on mobile devices.
          • Working knowledge of Windows OS from Windows XP to Windows 10, Apple OS knowledge is an asset.
         •  Internet and Basic Networking knowledge is an asset
         •  Working knowledge of the Internet, Internet technologies, and technological/industry trends, as well as personal computers, e-mail and operating systems, dial-up and high-speed Internet connectivity
          •  Familiarity with trouble reporting systems

Customer Service Representative-Lindsay

~~Nexicom is looking for an enthusiastic individual that is willing to give Exceptional Customer Service, to fill a One Year full time contract position. ~

 
Duties (include but not limited to):
• Answer inbound calls and place outbound calls to customers while adhering to policies and procedures
• Address customer complaints and respond to difficult inquiries
• Process new accounts and update customer information as required
• Schedule pick- ups for customer accounts
• Ensure customer retention and satisfaction
• Provide customers and internal groups with effective and efficient customer service support
• Proactively manage and resolve customer satisfaction issues

Requirements:
• Customer service/inside sales experience
• Demonstrated ability in self-motivation with the ability to work with limited supervision
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Proficiency with MS Office Programs

Web Application Developer

Nexicom is looking for a Web Application Developer

This position requires the individual to work with numerous computer programs such as: Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, and Illustrator, as well as having a good working knowledge of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Plesk, CentOS Linux, and Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of various languages and technologies such as JavaScript, jQuery, PHP and the PHP Composer dependency manager, MVC framework, MySQL, the Twig templating engine, HTML5, and CSS3 are necessary. Knowledge of Python and Perl are an asset.

 

The position involves designing, developing, testing, implementing and supporting applications using programming languages and development tools, as well as modifying, integrating and testing software code. This position requires the individual to participate in the design and development of technology solutions which meet security, network, infrastructure and customer requirements. The individual will assist in developing technical solutions for on-going system maintenance, both internally and externally. The individual will provide some customer training in the use of site functions and communication in relation to the customer’s websites, coding and images, etc. The position requires the ability to manage several on-going projects at once. The individual must present themselves in a professional manner. The individual will be required to stay current with industry trends and applicable technologies.

 

One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in a programming related position is required.
