# Uploading Files to Your Web Site with Plesk

If these steps or terms are unfamiliar to you, we recommend hiring a web designer to assist you with this process

To upload your website in Plesk, compress your local website files into a .zip file, navigate to File Manager in your Plesk dashboard, and upload the archive into the httpdocs folder. Finally, extract the files directly on the server.

**Step-by-Step Guide**

- Prepare Your Files: On your local computer, select all of your website’s files and folders, and compress them into a .zip file.
- Log in to Plesk: Open your Plesk control panel.
- Open File Manager: Go to Websites & Domains, click on your domain name, and select File Manager.
- Locate the Web Root: Open the httpdocs folder. This is the main directory where all live website files must be stored.
- Upload the File: Click the Upload button, locate your .zip file, and upload it.
- Extract the Files: Once the upload is complete, select the checkbox next to your .zip file in Plesk, click the Archive menu dropdown and select Extract Files.
