Founded in 1898 by Dr. Turner, The Turner Telephone Company was Millbrook’s first phone provider. It later became the Millbrook Rural Telephone Company and, under Ed Downs and Henry Coon, was renamed Docon Telephones Ltd. In 1978, Ed Downs’ sons, John and Paul, took over, preserving the company’s family values. After 75 years of ownership, they sold Nexicom in 2016 to Clayton Zekelman of MNSi, ensuring its future with a like-minded leader.
Today, Nexicom delivers high-speed Internet, phone, TV, and security services across the Kawarthas, combining cutting-edge technology with small-town service.
