Network Operations Centre Technician

Nexicom is looking for a Network Operations Centre Technician.
Position Overview: *

Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and ticket triage of voice, video, and data services.
- Attend customer sites to support their needs as it relates to the Managed Services that Nexicom offers.
- Supports the day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of network infrastructure, ADSL, VDSL, DOCSIS, Fibre, IPTV, colocations, POTS, VoIP, and voicemail services
- Responsible for resolving tickets escalated to the network Operations Centre, and documenting the resolution.
- Maintain DC power systems, network hardware, and the supporting software systems.
This position may require regular Saturday and Sunday scheduling.
This position requires the individual to be on call on a predetermined schedule.
Education:
Two- or three-year college diplomas in Computer Engineering – Networking or Telecommunications Systems or equivalent.
Computer Knowledge:
- Candidates must have experience using VLAN’s and layer-2 protocol such as STP, LLDP, LLDP-MED, and IEEE 802.11.
- Proficiency and experience of working with layer -3 protocols including OSPF, VRRP, BGP, MPLS, VPLS and PIM. Working knowledge of both IPv4 and IPv6, Layer 2 switching, routing, subnetting, and QOS.
- Familiarity of command line interfaces and the Linux operating system. A Preferred candidate will have experience with Juniper security, routing and switching equipment.
- Knowledge of service provider technologies including ADSL, VDSL, FTTH, and DOCSIS service delivery platforms. Knowledge of video services like IPTV, multicast, 8VSB, MPEG-2, MPEG-4. Experience with T1s, POTS, VoIP, and voicemail services.
Experience:
One to three years of work experience in a related field. Service Provider experience preferred.
