Nexicom Continues Expanding Fibre Infrastructure in Hamilton Township

Nexicom is pleased to announce the completion of the final phases of their Precious Corners Transport Project, funded through the CRTC Universal Broadband Fund. The project has supported the installation of Nexicom’s advanced fibre optic network, enabling connections to 341 homes in the communities of Harwood, Gores Landing, Plainville, Cold Springs, and Camborne.

The Precious Corners Transport Project is part of a larger CRTC-funded initiative to enhance broadband Internet transport network capacity in underserved communities. With $1.2 million funded by the CRTC and $2.7 million from Nexicom, the project delivers higher speeds, better quality of service, and greater data allowances, ensuring reliable broadband Internet access for all Canadians.

“We are very interested and supportive of the extension and rollout of High-Speed Fibre by Nexicom,” Arthur Anderson, Chief Administrative Officer of Hamilton Township, expressed. “This will provide residents and businesses in various locations in the Township of Hamilton with more options for access to the internet, and we expect it will help keep our community connected now and in the future.”

While the CRTC’s funding was designated solely for the ‘transport’, Nexicom is entirely funding the expansion into Camborne. The company is now completing the “last mile” extension of the project, adding service to an additional 110 homes in Camborne, ON.

“This is only the beginning of our expansion into Northumberland County,” said Clayton Zekelman, owner of Nexicom. “We currently provide services in Bewdley and parts of the Municipality of Port Hope, including Garden Hill and Elizabethville. As a local company employing residents from Peterborough and Northumberland County, we deeply understand the demand for superior broadband infrastructure and are committed to meeting it.”

The final phase of the project is expected to be operational in early July and will enable service to addresses on Dale Road in Precious Corners. To learn more about Nexicom services, visit nexicom.net.
